ON THE MOVE?: Shinji Kagawa is not happy with his lack opportunites under David Moyes

Juan Mata’s arrival at Old Trafford in January has all but ended Kagawa’s career at United.

Kagawa, 24, has not featured for the Premier League champions since the Old Trafford club paid £37.1m to Chelsea for Mata in January.

The Japan international, 24, has failed to replicate the form he showed at Borussia Dortmund which made former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson fork out £24m for the midfielder in 2012.

Kagawa has also admitted to being “irritated” over the lack of opportunities under new boss David Moyes.

Dortmund are interested in bringing the player back to Germany with United considering using him as a part of a deal to sign midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

BENCHWARMER: Kagawa has spent most of this season on the sidelines

But United will look to recoup as much of their original outlay as possible and will sell to the highest bidder if Dortmund are not willing to allow Gundogan to leave.

Moyes’ chances of landing Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos have been dealt a blow as the Bundesliga side’s boss Pep Guardiola insisted the midfielder will extend his contract beyond 2015.

He said: “We all want him to prolong, and he also wants that, I am very positive about it. The club, we all want that.”

United remain confident that Wayne Rooney will sign his new mega £300,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford.

Reports have suggested the contract negotiations have hit a snag over image rights but the Old Trafford club expect the five-and-a-half year deal to be sorted in the coming days.
