Morton vs Queen of the South preview - Morton and Queens try again

Posted Wednesday, January 29, 2014 by PA

Morton and Queen of the South meet again just four days after their Championship game was abandoned due to the tragic death of home supporter Andrew Kemp.

Barrie McKay's loan deal has been extended, however Garry O'Connor is a major doubt due to illness and Reece Hands is also struggling with a pelvic problem. Stuart Findlay is ruled out through suspension.

Morton boss Kenny Shiels said: "It will be an emotional night after the events at the weekend but I agree that we should get back to playing sooner rather than later. Cowdenbeath had a great result on Saturday and we need to match that."

Queen of the South's Derek Young remains out with a toe injury and on-loan Motherwell striker Bob McHugh could get his first outing in a Doonhamer jersey after shaking off a thigh injury.

Manager Jim McIntyre echoed Shiels thoughts on the game, saying: "The thoughts of everyone involved at Queen of the South are with Mr Kemp's family after the tragic events on Saturday. However, it is best to get playing again.

"Both clubs will pay their respects before the game and then look for the three points. I do not anticipate any changes as everyone involved on Saturday is available again."
