Bendtner reiterates desire to leave Arsenal

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner remains adamant that he wishes to leave the north London club, but says his next move will not be driven by money.

The 25-year-old recently said his disappointment that he was not sold by Arsenal in the summer and hit out at manager Arsene Wenger for forcing him to train with the reserves.

Bendtner is still keen to leave the Gunners in search of first-team soccer, even as early as January, and insists money will not be a motive in his decision.

"I want to get away from Arsenal. Whether it is for winter, we must wait to see," he said at a press conference ahead of Denmark’s friendly with Norway. "I will weigh my decision depending on where the greatest sporting challenge lies. Finances, in this context, mean very little to me.

"I've been playing football since I was 4 years old and back then it was for the love of the sport. It is for the love of the sport that I play today as well."

The Denmark international – who has 56 caps to his name – was also urged by Denmark coach Morton Olsen to leave the club if given the chance, adding extra media attention in his homeland.

However, after refusing to answer questions about the topic from reporters at Mascot Park in Silkeborg on Wednesday, the striker conceded he has grown tired of talking about leaving the club.

"I was sick and angry of answering questions yesterday," he said. "I think I had said that I did not want to comment on questions about Arsenal and I became sick of it when asked the third time.

"But of course, I don’t want it in the way of things. But it happens sometimes where reporters say anything. But I would like to only respond to the press questions about Denmark when I am with the national team."
