Roma will play to win at Inter, says Garcia

Rudi Garcia says Roma will be gunning for their seventh straight win against Inter on Saturday and will not settle for a draw at San Siro.

The Giallorossi have enjoyed a perfect start to the season with six wins from six and look to improve on that mark having won three of the past four meetings against the Nerazzurri.

Inter have enjoyed a revival of their own this season under new coach Walter Mazzarri, with four wins and two draws from six Serie A matches, but Garcia believes three points are there for the taking.

"The Nerazzurri are a strong team with talented players," he told reporters on Friday. "They have the advantage of playing at home. But that doesn’t change anything for me.

"I’ve always said to my players that we have to try to win all 38 matches, both home and away. I hope tomorrow’s match turns out to be a great game.

"We’ll definitely play to win, as I’ve said, but it will be difficult."

Garcia insists the pressure of being at the peak of the pile is not affecting his Roma ranks, but is in fact creating a positive buzz amongst the players and the fans.

"We’re relaxed even though we’re top of the table," the ex-Lille boss revealed. "The most important thing for the team is to remain calm. It’s obviously easier to be so when you win.

"We’re expecting 5,000 fans from Rome. San Siro will be almost full and it will be a great atmosphere. It would obviously be better to have the three points at the end.

"We’re top for the moment and this has to help the team, simply by giving them more confidence in their play. We know anything can happen in a match against Inter.

"I think we’re very well prepared on the mental side and we need to fight with everything: if we do that we’ll definitely get a good result."

Despite their perfect start, Garcia refuses to talk about the Scudetto, but rather take the season one match at a time.

He added: "It’s too soon to talk about targets like [winning Serie A]. Tomorrow’s match is important but no more than the others that are to come.

"Every match represents three possible points and we’ll see how things go further down the line."
