Hummels: Low has less faith in me than Klopp

The BVB star says the Germany boss does not have much trust in his abilities as a defender after dropping him for their two most recent games

Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels has slammed Germany coach Joachim Low for not showing him the same amount of trust as club boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Nationalelf trainer opted to field Jerome Boateng and Per Mertesacker at the heart of defence during the last two World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Faroe Islands.

The BVB centre-back feels he does not receive the same faith from Low that he is accustomed to at club level, but he is determined to win his place back ahead of next summer's World Cup.

"I don't mind being criticised," Hummels told Kicker.

"On the other hand, I give my opinion whenever I think that something is not perfect. They don't like to see criticism at DFB [the German footballing association].

"[However] I think that I have to work harder than other to earn my place in the national team. I don't have the same trust from the national team that I have from my club.

"Our relationship is absolutely fine. The communication is very good and pleasant. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if the coach opts to play with the same defence as in the last match.

"Next summer, this should change again, however. At the World Cup, the coach should have no other choice but to pick me."
