Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Diego López regretted the injury suffered by Iker Casillas during the opening minutes against Galatasaray, which in turn allowed him to take his place during the rest of the match. Diego López said that he was "saddened by a teammate's injury", adding "I noticed once I was on the pitch. It was a knock. He grabbed his side (Iker Casillas) and I saw that it was painful," the Real Madrid keeper told Canal Plus.
The Madrid keeper described the event as "painful" although it does not look serious initially. "It's a delicate part of the body. If you get elbowed there for example, it hurts a lot," he said. Diego López denied that he feels any pressure due to the goalkeeping situation at Real Madrid. "I'm not under any particular pressure. I try to take advantage of every opportunity I am given. We both respect the coach's decision and are ready for anything."
"I try to enjoy every game I play for this team, which is the best in the world, and in order to do so I try to stay in form and help the team," the Real keeper added. "It was an important match. I tried to stay focussed from the moment I went on, especially when Galatasaray put us under pressure," he added.
The keeper admitted that the match in Istanbul was much more complicated than the scoreline suggested. "It was a complicated game until 2-0. It is true that until then they had several chances to equalise. It was more straightforward after the second goal," he concluded.
