Diego Lopez gives Ancelotti a selection headache

Real Madrid has such depth in its squad that Carlo Ancelotti even has a dilemma between the posts. Casillas' place in the starting XI at the start of the season has been beyond dispute during the past 12 years, but Diego López is more than a threat to Spain's first-choice keeper.
Diego, who ended last season in outstanding form, has kicked off this season in the same way. He is quick, agile and extremely confident in the air and that gives the Real Madrid defence piece of mind during set pieces.
All of these qualities were on show yesterday against Inter. Diego confidently dealt with the few chances created by Inter during the first half and pulled off three world-class saves in the second.
Diego parrying a shot onto the woodwork as Olsen celebrated what he thought was a goal was one of best images of the game and an amazing save that brought the crowd to its feet. Without doubt, López has been playing on another level in recent months.
Diego López withstood a late flurry from Inter - three consecutive shots - and after keeping out Ricky Álvarez's attempt at the death, managed to keep a clean sheet. The keeper has had an excellent pre-season and given Ancelotti a huge selection headache, leaving the coach less than a week to decide who his first-choice keeper is.
