Tottenham removes Gareth Bale from its Twitter page

Tottenham Hotspur has removed Gareth Bale's photo from the London club's official Twitter page. It has also removed the photo of Clint Dempsey, who completed his move to the Seattle Sounders this week.

The two players have been replaced by two of Spurs best-known players, Dembelé and Lennon. The two photos in the centre of the page remain unchanged, still depicting Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker.

Tottenham has admitted on its website that the only confirmed shirt number for the upcoming league campaign is that of Roberto Soldado, who will wear number 9.

A lot has happened since that enormous advertising poster of Bale wearing Spurs' new shirt looked down on Times Square. It appears that everyone in London is getting used to the idea that Gareth Bale is about to swap White Hart Lane for the Santiago Bernabéu.
