Guardiola: Bayern will correct

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola insisted that he was satisfied with the team's efforts despite losing 4-2 in the German Super Cup final to Borussia Dortmund.

Bundesliga fans watched with great interest as the league's top two sides clashed in the curtain-raiser for the new season and Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus made sure to put on a show. The German international opened the scoring as early as the sixth minute and notched a double with the final goal of the game.

Bayern Munich attempted to mount a comeback via Arjen Robben, but the former Real Madrid player's strike was cancelled by an own goal from team-mate Daniel van Buyten, before Ikay Gundogan seized the lead back for Jurgen Klopp's men and Reus completed the rout.

While speaking to the club's official website, Guardiola related that he was content with his team's display despite defeat and would make "minor" improvements to the Bavarian side's play before the start of the new campaign.

"We've lost 4-2, but I didn't have the feeling Dortmund were much better than us," Guardiola stated.

"Overall, I'm satisfied with our performance and our attitude, but we were up against a good team. We still have ten days to get ready for the Bundesliga restart. We'll correct our minor errors."

Opposite number Klopp was in a naturally bouyant mood after the victory, but he refused to consider Dortmund to be Bayern's direct rivals for the league title.

"It was a terrific match. Both teams went for it like there's no tomorrow," Klopp noted.

"Bayern are the best team in the league and they're not our rivals. The other 16 teams are our rivals."
