TATA TITO ... it's Vilan-over for Barca boss

MANCHESTER UNITED’S chances of landing Cesc Fabregas dramatically increased last night.

Barcelona have been left in chaos after boss Tito Vilanova’s shock resignation following another cancer setback.

It means United will be hoping to take advantage of the uncertainty that has engulfed the Catalan giants and convince Fabregas to push for a move.

Barca had slapped a ‘not for sale’ sign on the midfielder this week.

But new Red Devils chief David Moyes appeared optimistic of landing the former Arsenal star, with chief exec Ed Woodward in talks with Barcelona over a £30million move.

In contrasting reports Fabregas, 26, had assured the Spanish champions he wanted to stay.

Vilanova, 44, had a tumour removed from his throat in late 2011 but relapsed a year later.

Barca president Sandro Rosell said: “The news I have is something that you never want to give.

“After evaluating Tito’s routine tests, the treatment to follow will be incompatible with being the first-team coach.”

Andre Villas-Boas has emerged among the favourites to replace Vilanova.

But the Spurs boss is refusing to discuss the vacancy at the Nou Camp.

He said: “It’s a very difficult situation and all of my wishes are with Tito.

“It’s not the moment to speak about any speculation. We are speaking about a person’s health.”
