Kop fight to keep Agger

BRENDAN RODGERS is ready to fight to keep hold of Daniel Agger — as Barcelona prepare a £12million raid for the Liverpool centre-half.
Anfield chief Rodgers is already battling to hang on to Luis Suarez with Real Madrid and Arsenal in hot pursuit.
Barca have turned to Agger after Paris Saint-Germain made it clear they will not sell Brazil ace Thiago Silva to the Catalan giants. Nou Camp boss Tito Vilanova is desperate to bolster his backline and is said to be a huge admirer of Denmark international Agger, 28.
Rodgers is certain to rebuff the La Liga outfit’s advances — particularly given Jamie Carragher’s retirement last term.
Liverpool have snapped up Kolo Toure on a free from Manchester City but Rodgers will be loath to lose Agger as it would upset his plans in the middle of his pre-season.
The Reds have also given up on landing Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu, 21, after failing to reach agreement with Porto.
While Atsu fancied the move the Portuguese club snubbed Liverpool’s £3.4m final offer.
