Robinho unhappy at wage demand claims

AC Milan striker Robinho's father insists that his son is not forcing unreasonable salary demands to come in the way of a potential return to boyhood club Santos.

The Brazilian has been continuously linked with Santos for much of his career and has repeatedly expressed a desire to return to Brazil.

At Milan, he has also fallen down the pecking order and has had to play second fiddle to the likes of Mario Balotelli, Stephan El Shaarawy and Giampaolo Pazzini.

Furthermore, the Milan man has just a year left on his contract and therefore could be available for a cut-price sum in the summer transfer window.

Santos have already initiated talks with the Serie A club but their officials have expressed frustration at the Brazil international's unwillingness to reduce his wage demands.

His father hit back at such claims as he told Lancenet: "He [Robinho] will accept the fact he'll be earning much less in order to come back to Santos."

"I spoke to Santos vice-president Odilio Rodrigues for the first time last week to study the Robinho situation. If someone else negotiated on his behalf, then they were not authorised to do so.

"Robinho was very irritated to hear Santos talk about certain wage demands that he had never made. I don't know where that money was meant to go, but not to Robinho or Milan.

"I will talk to Milan over the next few days."

Interim Santos coach Claudinei Oliveira also reiterated the club's desire to sign the 29-year-old who remains a fan favourite despite having left Brazil in 2008.

"The club have not passed up [on Robinho]," he said. "We have said it was our desire to sign him, but we have had 15 days of difficulty with it.

"Now we wait - negotiations are in progress and Santos have not give up completely. [We are waiting] for a response so that we can plan to sign him or not."

Reports in the South American media indicate that Santos will likely have to pay €8 million and face little competition for the striker's signature.
