Fergie rocked Robin

ROBIN VAN PERSIE has revealed how Alex Ferguson’s resignation shocked Manchester United’s superstars.
The Dutch striker said he and his team-mates were left dumbstruck when Fergie told them he was ending his 27-year reign as boss last month.
Van Persie, 29, said: “Sir Alex came through the dressing-room door and the first thing he said was that he was retiring.
“I had to gasp for breath and I shook my head. Had he really said what I thought he’d said?
“The room fell deathly quiet and then everyone became emotional.
“Sir Alex then had a long talk with the squad. I found it a very special speech and felt privileged to have witnessed it.
“It was an historical moment for football, even though I was not happy to hear his message.”
RVP, who has just been appointed captain of Holland, also revealed he has passed up the chance to earn millions from product endorsements.
The ex-Arsenal ace said: “A great deal of offers come my way but I am the type of person who limits what I do.
“I don’t do many things like this. When I do something it is only because I support it entirely.
“I look to see whether it is something that sends a good message to young people.
“I ignore a great deal of them as I don’t want to spend much time on them. The sporting aspect of my career comes first.”
