ART OF MOYES ... boss has been a big success at Everton

DAVID MOYES will be in the dugout at the Emirates tonight as the battle for a Champions League spot continues.

Everton have once again done incredibly well but I think they will lose against Arsenal and will just miss out on a place in Europe.

The biggest worry for Toffees fans is not just whether they will be playing in the Champions League or even the Europa League — it is whether Moyes will be manager next season.

I am a massive fan of the Goodison boss but I would not blame him if he decides to walk away in the summer.

Given the club’s current financial situation, I’m not convinced he can take the club any further.

Moyes’ contract runs out at the end of the season and it is clear he is waiting for some assurances before committing.

He is within his rights to hold out. Moyes has done unbelievably well in his 11 years but, unless he is given more money to spend, I cannot see him getting Everton into the top four. No manager would be able to achieve that.

But Moyes deserves the chance to manage in the Champions League.

Each year has been the same — and this season is no different. Everton have done well until the injuries kicked in.

Sadly it was inevitable this would happen although they have still done well to keep within range of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. A lot of that is down to good management.

Moyes has been loyal to Everton, he gets the best out of his players and his teams play with a good tempo.

Maybe he is now running on empty and needs a fresh challenge.

If he had a massive kitty, I feel he could make Everton title contenders. But this will not happen on the current budget, that is for sure.

Maybe if he took some time out of the game, he would then be a strong candidate for when a job at a ‘top four’ club came available.

I think very few fans would object if Moyes became their manager. He is one of those bosses that all supporters respect and you rarely hear anyone say a bad one about him

Sometimes, a manager’s spell at a club runs its course. Look at Tony Pulis.
He has enjoyed seven fantastic years at Stoke but he is now in trouble. The fans are also starting to turn.

But even if Moyes fails to guide Everton into Europe, there is no doubt he will earn praise from Everton’s supporters. They know what Moyes is up against.
I have no doubt that their opponents tonight, Arsenal, will now finish in a Champions League spot.

I was not too sure halfway through the season but they are on a decent run. But the Gunners have also been helped by the fact Tottenham and Chelsea look incredibly tired.

Arsene Wenger received criticism for Arsenal being knocked out of all the cups. Ironically, though, this has helped the team focus on the Premier League while Chelsea and Tottenham’s runs in other competitions have taken their toll.

Meanwhile, it seems as though Moyes and Everton will miss out. But I am convinced we will see Moyes manage in the Champions League — for another club.

Unless, of course, Everton stumble on a billionaire.
