Dramatic Dempsey equalizer grants Spurs draw with Man United

Clint Dempsey just needed one more chance to make good on what had been a frustrating day at White Hart Lane.
With the snow beating down on London and almost forcing a pregame postponement, Dempsey scored a stoppage-time equalizer to lift Tottenham to a 1-1 draw with league-leading Manchester United Sunday. Dempsey, who had been denied on a number of occasions by Red Devils goalkeeper David De Gea, came through moments before the final whistle to offset Robin van Persie's opening goal and give Spurs a precious point as they look to remain in the hunt for next season's UEFA Champions League.
The goal-scoring sequence capped a furious rally in the second half for Spurs. De Gea, who had previously stuffed Dempsey on a one-on-one opportunity, punched a cross away from his area, but it landed at the foot of Aaron Lennon. The winger crossed into the center of the area, where Dempsey was waiting to slot it home with a right-footed shot.
The goal was Dempsey's fifth in his last seven games across all competitions and it was his second goal against Manchester United this season. He opened his account for Spurs at Old Trafford with a game-winning tally in a 3-2 victory on Sept. 29.
