Swan foot in the final
SWANNING ALONG ... Michu celebrates scoring the first goal

RAFA BENITEZ suffered a torrent of abuse as Chelsea crashed to a humiliating Capital One Cup defeat.

Michu and Danny Graham pounced on two Branislav Ivanovic blunders to put Swansea on the verge of the final.

Angry Blues fans turned on Benitez and chairman Bruce Buck — but, incredibly, the manager claimed he was “happy” with his team.

Benitez’s misery was capped when Demba Ba had a goal ruled out and a penalty turned down.

The Spaniard said: “If you just look at the score, that’s fine. But if you analyse the way things went, it’s a different opinion.

“I can only say what I saw and that was a team who were creating chances from the first minute and who had 23 attempts on goal.

“I was happy with the way the team worked and, if you played this game 10 times, we would win nine of them.

“The team was attacking, we had plenty of possession and we controlled the game against a good team. But the reality is we made two mistakes and paid for them.”

Benitez insisted the officials were wrong to rule out Ba’s injury-time effort for offside just moments after Graham scored Swansea’s killer second.

And the Spaniard also claimed Ba should not have been booked for diving as he tumbled over Swans keeper Gerhard Tremmel in the box.

He said: “Ba was level with the last defender, so it was a goal.

“You can argue about the penalty or not but obviously it is not a yellow card — that is very clear to me.”

Disgruntled home fans repeatedly sang for the introduction of substitutes Ba and Frank Lampard and chanted ‘F*** off Benitez, you’re not welcome here’.

But the defiant Blues boss said: “We just concentrate on our jobs.”

Swansea chief Michael Laudrup said: “We’ve already had historic wins at Anfield and the Emirates this season but to win at the home of the European champions is something special.”
