Barca reject BPL loans for Villa

Barcelona have reportedly rejected loan bids from Liverpool and Arsenal for David Villa.

Failing to break into Tito Vilanova's Barcelona starting 11 since his return from injury, media reports from Spain indicate that Villa is resigned to leaving the Camp Nou in the near future. The 2010 World Cup winner is believed to prefer a move in the current transfer window as he no longer wishes to warm the bench, with a number of clubs in the frame for his signature.

However, the Daily Mail has reported that the Catalans have rejected arrangements from Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal to take Villa on loan earlier this week. Although Vilanova is not convinced that the striker has regained his pre-injury form, the Barcelona manager is supposedly wary of losing a player of Villa's experience in case of an injury crisis.

Barcelona are understood to have informed Liverpool and Arsenal that they are not interested in entertaining loan offers for the former Valencia striker, but will consider selling Villa if a bid of approximately 16 million pounds is made. Tottenham and Serie A winners Juventus are also keeping a close watch on the forward's situation.

Villa's price tag is likely to put off Gunners manager Arsene Wenger, who is expected to turn his interests toward Atletico Madrid's Adrian Lopez instead. The 24-year old has been one of Wenger's long-term targets, but his current employers have demanded Arsenal trigger his 14 million pound release clause. With the Gunners board unwilling to meet Atletico's valuation of a player who has made just six La Liga starts this season, it remains to be seen if Wenger will be bolstering his attack at all this month.
