Parma vs Siena preview - Siena's survival target

Siena assistant manager Mario Palazzi would welcome an outbreak of tunnel vision among his players, as the Tuscans' bid for survival continues at Parma.

Siena are rock bottom of the Serie A standings after 11 games, but Serse Cosmi's men would have been sitting pretty in 13th place if not for a six-point punishment that came as a result of their involvement in the `Calcioscommesse' match-fixing scandal.

Whether or not Siena's lowly status is an unfair reflection of their achievements so far, the hefty deduction dictated that this would be a season of struggle regardless, and Palazzi admits his team just have to get on with it.

Following a confidence-boosting 1-0 win over Genoa, Palazzi said: "Survival is an attainable target, and we're working towards it.

"We have even more confidence, even if there is a long road ahead of us.

"We have to stay focused without thinking about everybody else's results, otherwise we'll be struck with both euphoria and depression every Sunday.

"The most important thing remains our work ethic, and the road we are going down."

Albanian striker Erjon Bogdani has been a peripheral figure so far this season, but he is ready and willing to help drag Siena off the bottom of the table.

"I know what my role is in this squad, I can bring experience when it's needed," he said.

""I have always given my all in training so that I can be at the coach's disposition.

"Parma are a good team, but we can do well. A positive result would be vital to our league campaign."

Ze Eduardo will miss another three weeks of action after hurting his leg against Genoa, but his fellow South Americans Matias Martinez and Ribair Rodriguez are back in training after injury.

Parma will be on their guard after suffering a shock 2-0 defeat to struggling Pescara last time out, following a run of three straight wins that had boosted them into the top half.

Full-back Aleandro Rosi told La Repubblica: "Pescara showed us that there are no easy matches.

"Sure, some teams seem stronger than others, but on the pitch it's often a different story.

"On paper, we are better than Siena, but after what happened on Sunday we know it will not be easy.

"So we are preparing well for the game, we will take the bitterness from the Pescara game on to the field."
