The Italy international has expressed his belief that the under-fire Rossoneri boss is the right man for the job, despite his side's lacklustre start to the new campaign
AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo has thrown his support behind coach Massimiliano Allegri, whose position at the club has come into question following some poor results so far this season.
There have been rumours circulating around the peninsula this week that have suggested should the Rossoneri fail to get a positive result against Udinese this weekend, it could cost Allegri his job.
However, the former Fiorentina midfielder is standing behind his new boss, insisting that he is still the right man for job.
“We’re with Allegri and he is the one to lead us out of this crisis,” the Italy international told Sky Sport Italia.
“We’ve certainly changed a lot, many players have left, and this is a difficult moment for us, but it can pass in an instant.”
The Italy international only joined the Serie A runners-up during the summer and despite a tough start to life in Milan, he is not regretting the move.
“I’ve had no second thoughts,” he insisted. “I’m happy to be here. We now have to find some balance and I’m certain that will happen.”
Montolivo is set to return to action after recovering from an injury that has seen him miss two matches but he downplayed his potential effect on a Milan side struggling to perform.
“I certainly don’t have a magic wand,” he said. “I’ll just give my contribution, but all of the squad have to improve.
“I’m at the coach’s disposal and am willing to play anywhere, although I think I’m best suited to an outside central midfield role thanks to my characteristics.”
