Queen of South 1 : 0 Albion Rovers FC - Albion draw blank again
Posted Saturday, August 25, 2012 by PA
Albion remain without a goal this season as they were beaten 1-0 at Queen of the South.
Derek Lyle put the Doonhamers ahead when he applied the finish to Nicky Clark's right-wing cross after 21 minutes.
The visitors faced an uphill struggle to get back into the game after James Gilmartin was sent off for foul and abusive language in the 42nd minute.
But Todd Lumsden's men were given a golden opportunity to level the scores, and break their duck, when Keiran Brannon was brought down by Mark Durnan inside the area.
Jason Crooks stepped up to take the spot-kick but saw Lee Robinson pull off a fantastic save, low to his right, to maintain the hosts' advantage.
Substitute Christopher Boyle had a late effort easily kept out by Robinson as the Wee Rovers brought up 450 minutes without a goal this season.
