TOP TARGET ... Cesar Azpilicueta
CHELSEA have had a £5million bid for Marseille defender Cesar Azpilicueta knocked back.
And the French club are demanding at least £8m for the Spanish international.
Chelsea, with the backing of owner Roman Abramovich, are desperate to increase competition for the right-back slot with Azpilicueta, 22, the No 1 target.
Jose Bosingwa was released at the end of the season, leaving fellow Portuguese ace Paulo Ferreira as the sole dedicated right-back.
Branislav Ivanovic prefers playing as a centre-half, but more often than not gets the nod for a wide role.
Boss Roberto Di Matteo is refusing to give up despite the snub and Chelsea are set to increase their offer in the next few days.
