Chievo 1 : 1 Siena - Destro earns point for Siena

Chievo and Siena played out a Serie A match that was typical of their respective standings in the table, drawing 1-1 at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
Chievo had taken the lead through Francesco Acerbi with nine minutes gone but were unable to hold out for the remainder of the game as Mattia Destro levelled six minutes after the break.
Siena were knocked out of the Coppa Italia in midweek and the hangover still seemed to be with them early on as Marco Andreolli went close with a header.
The reprieve was only momentary, though, with Acerbi stabbing home seconds later after a scramble in the box.
Luigi Gorgi led the Siena response, shooting wide from the edge of the area, while Alberto Paloschi did the same at the other end.
Acerbi was looking in the mood for more goals and headed a Michael Bradley cross wide with 17 minutes gone, before Destro signalled his intent with a fizzing drive that crept over.
Bradley was then denied by Gianluca Pegolo, with the keeper also at his best to keep out Nicolas Frey.
Siena rode the storm and emerged for the second half looking a different side.
Destro was denied by Stefano Sorrentino and, although Pegolo was again called on to block Cyril Thereau, a Siena goal duly arrived with 51 minutes on the clock when Destro picked up possession at the edge of the area and rammed home.
Pepped up by the strike, the visitors poured forward with Simone Vergassola narrowly missing the target and Erijon Bogdani scraping an effort wide.
Chievo responded with Kamil Vacek taking aim but, despite Franco Brienza and Rinaldo Cuzado trading efforts, there would be no more goals.
