Brazilian legend Ronaldo believes Santos striker Neymar has the potential to become a better player than Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Neymar, only 20 years of age, is regarded as the best attacking player the Brazilian league has to offer at the moment. The talented youngster recently put pen to paper and signed a new deal with his club Santos, despite suggested interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
With the debate still ongoing as to whether Neymar should leave Brazil to fulfil his potential, Ronaldo told TV Cultura that his compatriot should do so, if he is to surpass Messi.
"[Lionel] Messi is at a higher level than any other player on the planet, Neymar is our biggest talent. I believe that he can be better than Messi." the retired striker said.
"There is still big room for improvement for him, but not if he keeps playing in Brazil."
Neymar has eight goals in 16 appearances for his country.
