Andre Villas-Boas’ bid to land striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to be dashed – on the orders of Jose Mourinho.
Real Madrid boss Mourinho no longer respects his former side- kick, who has been fighting to establish himself at Chelsea.
Star-Argentina international Higuain, who Starsport revealed on Thurs- day was a £30m target for Chelsea.
But with Mourinho’s position at the Bernabeu so strong there seems no chance he will let Higuain, 24, leave for Stamford Bridge.
Villas-Boas and Mourinho were very close during spells at Porto sport can reveal Mourinho has instructed his powerful agent Jorge Mendes not to deal with Villas-Boas, threatening to sign with anoth- er representative if he does.
Mendes does not represent Chelsea and Inter Milan. But they no longer speak, with Mourinho said to be very unhappy at the way Villas- Boas copied him by taking over at Porto and then Chelsea.
Villas-Boas did not improve matters by failing to give credit to the influ- ence of Mourinho when he was appointed Porto boss in June 2010.
A new biography of the Chelsea manager, called ‘Villas-Boas – Special Too’ claims he was more of a clone of Sir Bobby Robson than Mourinho at his introduction.
“At this point he started distancing himself from Mourinho, with whom he has not been on good terms since he arrived at Porto,” state authors Luis Miguel Pereira and Jaime Pinto.
TV executive Periera said: “There is no relationship between them. They had seven intense years together.
“I think Jose didn’t like him taking the same jobs. Andre is ambitious – that is the real the problem.”
