Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh could be on his way out of the club with Sevilla waiting to pounce, say Spanish reports.

The out of favour hitman has struggled for game time at the Gunners since the turn of the year, mainly due to the sensational form of Robin van Persie, but Arsene Wenger is adamant he wants the Moroccan to stay at the Emirates.

However, Sevilla sporting director Monchi is thought to be keen on recruiting the former Bordeaux man, and could be willing to tempt Arsenal with a £7million January bid.

Wenger knows Chamakh is struggling for form and confidence at the Emirates, and may prefer to allow the striker to move out on loan, with Everton also said to be interested.

But Sevilla are wary a successful loan move may result in the price for Chamakh being pushed up come the end of the season, and are keen to buy now for a relatively modest fee.

Arsenal would certainly only consider selling the striker if they could find a replacement, and Cologne’s Lukas Podolski has been mentioned as a possible option should the Morocco international move on.
