LIONEL MESSI is the hot favourite to seal this year's Ballon d'Or once again after today's nominations.
The Barcelona superstar has won the coveted award for the last two years and is the box seat to make it three years on the spin.
Last season the Argentine ace saw off competition from Barca team-mates Andres Iniesta and Xavi, who came second and third respectively.
The duo will be looking to push their diminutive colleague all the way once again, along with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Aguero.
Wayne Rooney is the only English player to make the list.
