Maximiliano Moralez scored twice in three minutes to earn Atalanta their fourth Serie A win of the season as they beat Parma 2-1 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
Moralez put the visitors in front in the 55th minute before he found the back of the net again soon after to double the lead.
Parma hit back through Jamie Valdes in the 80th minute but the substitute's score turned out only to be a consolation goal.
Parma are now one point above Atalanta in Serie A in 14th place.
The game started at a blistering pace and the home side squandered several chances in the first half.
Parma midfielder Abderazak Jadid's close-range header flew over the bar in the ninth minute before Sebastian Giovinco's long-distance strike missed the right post.
Parma's Francesco Modesto then played in former Inter Milan striker Jonathan Biabiany but his shot went wide after a deflection by Atalanta defender Daniele Capelli.
Giovinco's shot then missed the post in the 20th minute before Stefano Morrone wasted the best chance of the half when he missed an easy tap-in from close range after a great assist from Biabiany.
Morrone then failed to turn in Giovinco's cross just before the break as the home side were left to rue their chances with the scores deadlocked at half-time.
It only took Moralez 10 minutes to end the stalemate in the second half when Atalanta counter-attacked from a Parma corner and the striker fired into the bottom right corner.
Moralez scored again just three minutes later when Parma defender Gabriel Paletta missed an easy clearance from Matias Schelotto's corner, allowing Moralez to score from close range.
Chilean substitute Valdes gave hope to Parma when he fired into the bottom left-hand corner after an assist from Massimo Gobbi but the score was scant consolation for the home side.
