Bruv ... Michael Owen
THE brother of Man United star Michael Owen sparked a police inquiry after he placed a bet on Wayne Rooney pledging his future to the club just 60 MINUTES before the deal was done.
Aicraft fitter Terry Owen, 40, bet £200 at odds of 7-2 after Rooney threatened to quit the Red Devils last October.
There is no suggestion Rooney knew anything about the gamble.
At the time, most punters were sticking cash on him joining Man City.
The wager netted Terry £900 and he insists it was "a guess". Last night, it looked as though he was in the clear — after police confirmed they had made "initial inquiries".
It comes just days after Rooney's father Wayne senior, 48, and uncle Ritchie, 54, were among nine men arrested and bailed over an alleged £100,000 betting scam.
