KENNY DALGLISH says he played the waiting game to sign Charlie Adam and he is prepared to be patient with his new boy.
The midfielder, 26, made his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt yesterday following his £9million move from Blackpool.
Adam played 45 low-key minutes as a second-half substitute against Chinese Second Division side Guangdong.
And Kop boss Dalglish said: "I've been waiting to sign Charlie since January and I'm not going to judge him over 45 minutes or rush him now I've got him. He returned late for pre-season training because of the transfer and everyone at Liverpool knows how he performed for Blackpool.
"I am not going to put any pressure on him or set him any targets."
Christian Poulsen and David Ngog put the Reds two up in the first half.
Liverpool-born kid Conor Coady, 18, grabbed a third in the second period after the Chinese pulled one back.
Andy Carroll scored five minutes from time but the hosts still had time to make it a tight finish.
