MANCHESTER CITY boss Roberto Mancini expects to seal the £7m signing of Gael Clichy by the early part of next week.
The Arsenal defender will hold talks with City officials this weekend, with Mancini hoping to have his man in place by Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are interested in City left-back Wayne Bridge, who is not part of Mancini’s plans and spent last season on loan at West Ham.
The Magpies would like to take Bridge on a similar loan deal but City would prefer to sell the player and get him off the wage bill once and for all.
City have also told Aston Villa to cough up £5m for goalkeeper Shay Given.
New Villa boss Alex McLeish wants to rescue Given from his Eastlands nightmare and offer him a Premier League lifeline.
But despite dumping him on the sidelines, Mancini is still not prepared to let Given go on the cheap. City have already rejected a £2m bid from Villa for Given.
