MADRID (AFP) - Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign winger Jose Callejon, who reportedly has sparked interest from several English clubs, back from Espanyol for the next five seasons, the Spanish club said Monday.

The 24-year-old is a product of the Real's youth academy but he failed to secure a regular place in the club's first team and in 2008 he joined Espanyol where we made his first division debut in September of that year.

Real said he arrived at Espanyol "as a striker, but adapted to the winger position down either side thanks to his versatility, speed and dribbling skills.

"Three years after leaving Real Madrid, and having earned the experience and maturity required, Jose Callejon returns to the club that formed him as a player to work under Jose Mourinho," it added on its Internet site.

The club gave no financial details but Spanish media reported Real will pay around five million euros to bring Callejon back to Madrid.

Callejon is Real's third signing for the 2011-12 season. The club had already signed Turkish midfielders Nuri Sahin from German champion Borussia Dortmund and Hamit Altintop from Bayern Munich.

Real finished second to Barcelona in La Liga for the third consecutive year.
