Emmanuel Adebayor: Why Jose Mourinho is better than Arsene Wenger

Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor believes the way Jose Mourinho prepares the players for the match is second to none.

Speaking to BBC Sport’s Football Focus, the Togo International explained that he prepares the squad as if they are going to war, injecting spirit and motivation as he added that the Portuguese would have never accepted to lose the Carling Cup Final – against Birmingham City – the way the Gunners did.

On his former Club, the 27-year old said that they are fantastic, a group with young players who need to understand that winning is a must, every day and in every game.

Adebayor concluded by saying that the quality of the Gunners is even higher than Champions Manchester United but they need something more, they need to be more determined, run more and fight more to win matches.

On Mourinho and Arsenal, he said:

He [Mourinho] is the best, then Arsene Wenger. He prepares his players sometimes like you are going to war. He gives you that spirit and motivation.

I have huge respect for Arsene Wenger, but Jose Mourinho could not accept losing to Birmingham in a final. No chance. He knows how to motivate you. He knows how to give you everything it takes to win it.

Even if it means laying down my life to win this cup, I will do it, because I want to win it so much. That is the difference.

Arsenal is a fantastic club, all the players are young, but at the end of the day you have to be harsh and be aggressive.

You have to instill a mentality where you think you have to win, win, win every day. That’s the difference with Arsenal.

Compared to Manchester United, Arsenal have the better players, individually, but they need something more. The manager has to ask more from them.

He has to tell them: ‘you have done good, but you have to do better. You have to fight more, you have to run more and fight for every ball.’ That is what will win Arsenal titles. They are not far off.
