But following Saturday's 1-0 win over Stoke, jubilant defender Pablo Zabaleta had tweeted: "Amazing day today!!!! Well done Manchester city!!! Wembley was only blue today!!!!"

The Cup Final had been moved to the same day as four Premier League games because Wembley will be hosting the Champions League final on May 28.

The same will happen next year but FA chairman David Bernstein promised to do "everything we can" to ensure the Final once again has the last Saturday of the season to itself.
