Bologna 0 : 2 Cesena - Cesena ease relegation worries

Cesena gave their Serie A relegation worries another boost by condemning Bologna to their fourth straight defeat at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium, winning 2-0.

After two draws and a win in their past three outings, goals from Emanuele Giaccherni and Dominique Malonga at either end of the second half secured the visitors three more crucial points in their battle against the drop.

Bologna started positively and had their first shot on goal in only the second minute, Antonio Busce trying his luck from the edge of the area but shooting high and wide.

Gabi Mudingayi was next to take aim, this time from 25 yards, but Francesco Antonioli was able to make a simple save in the corner.

Erjon Bogdani narrowly missed the target with Cesena's first chance in the 24th minute but Bologna were still the dominant force in the game.

Marco Di Vaio had two good chances in as many minutes and will be surprised not to have converted one.

The first saw him half-volleying from close range only to miss the target by inches.

He had the chance to go one better moments later but this time headed wide from Francesco Della Rocca's cross.

Riccardo Meggiorini had another opportunity for Bologna just before half-time but with Antonioli well beaten he failed to find the net from distance.

Cesena took advantage of the hosts' loose finishing when Giaccherini drilled home left-footed from the edge of the area three minutes into the second period.

That shocked Bologna, with Giaccherini almost following up with a second two minutes later.

Cesena still had plenty to defend, Meggiorini again a threat on the hour mark and Gaston Ramirez also going close.

It was not to be for the off-colour hosts though, and Cesena rubbed it in with a second six minutes from time.

Fabio Caserta provided a fine assist for Malonga, who fired home clinically to secure the points.
