Bright future: Nemanja Vidic praised the display of his defensive partner Chris Smalling
'Marseille didn't have many chances and we kept the ball well, so there are positive things to take from this game. He added: 'The home game will definitely be different.'
Vidic also reserved praise for his partner in central defence, Chris Smalling: 'He's a very good footballer and played well tonight. It's great for the future of Manchester United and English football.'
But Smalling himself was a little more downhearted with the result, saying that United should have done more to win the game, and admitted there was disappointment within the dressing room about going scoreless.
'It feels like we lost the game,' Smalling told MUTV. 'Everyone in the dressing room was a bit dejected.'
