Liam Buchanan scored twice as Partick Thistle thumped Stirling 6-1 at Firhill.

Kris Doolan opened the scoring for Partick from six yards in the 23rd minute, before Iain Flannigan doubled the lead when he drilled in a shot after 34 minutes.

Buchanan got his first of the afternoon from the penalty spot when Stirling defender Lee Currie brought down David Rowson in the box five minutes into the second half.

The Partick midfielder has his second when he headed in from Flannigan's corner with 67 minutes gone.

Substitute Shaun Fraser scored a fifth for the home side in the 75th minute before Stephen Stirling saw a straight red for a professional foul on Paul Paton.

Jamie Campbell rounded off the scoring for Thistle in the 81st minute but Stirling were awarded a penalty in injury time for a foul on Gordon Smith.

Christopher Aitken stepped up to score what was nothing more than a consolation for Stirling.
