Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro says the Partenopei must pick up maximum points against Brescia in their Serie A clash on Sunday in order to celebrate the 50th birthday of Diego Maradona in proper style.
The former Argentina international won two Scudetti with the club and is regarded as a hero by the Neapolitans. Maradona celebrates his birthday this weekend and Cannavaro wants to win to add to the party.
“For us Diego was everything. It's right that he is celebrated all over Naples," Cannavaro told Radio Marte.
“We will dedicate him the three points if we win. We are thinking about getting a positive result.”
Cannavaro also compared one of Maradona’s goals to the one that striker Ezequiel Lavezzi netted in the 2-1 loss to Milan on Monday night.
“His free-kick against Juventus was the most beautiful goal,” explained the Italian. “It went against all the rules.
“Lavezzi scored a goal that was just as beautiful against Milan. Champions are like this and fortunately Lavezzi plays with us.”
