7M - Federico Chiesa Pledges Commitment to Stay at Liverpool

Federico Chiesa has expressed his intent to remain at Liverpool and earn a spot under new manager Andoni Iraola, despite rumors connecting the Italian winger with a return to Serie A.

Since signing from Juventus for £12.5m (€15m) in August 2024, Chiesa has seen limited action at Anfield. In 2024-25, he played 14 matches (10 as a substitute), scoring two goals and providing one assist during Arne Slot's title-winning campaign. The following year, in 2025-26, he logged 36 appearances—31 off the bench—scoring three goals and providing three assists in 726 minutes while fellow forwards Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike dealt with injuries. Due in part to an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in 2022, Chiesa has not reached 30 starts in a single season since 2020-21, when he started 36 games for Juventus.

On Saturday in Nashville, Chiesa scored as a substitute in Liverpool's 4-2 pre-season win over Sunderland. Speaking after the match, he emphasized his affection for the club, fans, and environment, stating that his current focus remains solely on proving himself to the new manager. While acknowledging that he has experienced "too many fresh starts," he views the coaching change as a clean slate to earn a larger role on the pitch.

Liverpool will continue their pre-season schedule against Wrexham at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday before traveling to Chicago to face Leeds United next weekend.
