Barcelona are keeping Hoffenheim striker Vesnik Asllani among their alternative options, bracing for Ferran Torres's departure this summer.
The Catalans want to renew Torres's contract, which expires in the summer of 2027, but Paris Saint-Germain are circling for his signature.
Torres feels undervalued at Barcelona after limited playing time last season, and the club's pursuit of Julian Alvarez has only deepened that frustration.
According to "Sport", Asllani wants to wear the Catalan shirt despite having reached advanced stages in his negotiations with Leipzig.
The 23-year-old is close to sealing a deal with Leipzig. Even so, he has asked for extra time in the hope of an official offer from Barcelona, the club he considers his preferred destination.
Sporting chiefs at Barcelona see Asllani as an ideal option for rotating the attack, or a promising bet for the future, and his release clause of 29 million euros suits the club's economic situation.
Any deal ties directly to the departures file. Julian Alvarez remains the top target for the front line, while Asllani represents the ideal alternative should Ferran Torres leave. Barcelona do not rule out signing Asllani even if Torres stays, given that his financial value is a rare investment opportunity in the current strikers' market.
Two-footed and a real threat in the air, Asllani finished last season in the Bundesliga with 10 goals and 7 assists.
That 29 million euro clause poses no obstacle for Barcelona. They can settle it without selling players first, all while trying to negotiate the figure down.
