7M - Ter Stegen Ajax Transfer Stalls Over Salary Distribution Dispute

Negotiations regarding Marc-Andre ter Stegen's potential transfer from FC Barcelona to Ajax have encountered a major obstacle, despite previous indications that a deal was nearing completion. According to journalist Matteo Moretto of Marca, discussions between the two clubs have stalled over financial disagreements, primarily concerning the division of the German international's salary, which is approximately 16 million euros per season.

FC Barcelona, led by president Joan Laporta, is taking a firm stance in negotiations due to Financial Fair Play regulations and an ongoing effort to lower their wage bill. During a previous loan spell with Girona, Barcelona covered around 97% of the goalkeeper's wages while Girona paid roughly 3%. Barcelona is unwilling to repeat such an arrangement, maintaining that Ajax possesses the financial capacity to take on a significantly larger share of the salary. While Ajax remains interested in acquiring the veteran goalkeeper, the current conditions set by Barcelona have stalled progress, leaving the transfer on hold until a salary distribution agreement is reached.
