7M - Arsenal and Tottenham set for transfer battle over £51m-rated World Cup star Nusa

Arsenal and Tottenham are preparing to go head-to-head in a fierce transfer battle for RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa.

The Norwegian international, 21, has emerged as one of the most sought-after young attackers in Europe after a stellar spell in the Bundesliga.

Nusa shone at the World Cup, featuring six times and scoring Norway's first goal in their last-32 win over Ivory Coast. He was also a second-half substitute in his side's 2-1 extra-time loss to England in the quarter-finals.

SunSport understands that Leipzig are holding firm on a £51million valuation for Nusa, who notched four goals and three assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Arsenal are approaching the situation strategically and waiting to assess incoming offers for Gabriel Martinelli before making a formal move. While the Gunners are not actively pushing to sell Martinelli, a bid exceeding £51m from Europe or Asia could be enough to let the 25-year-old Brazilian go.

Leandro Trossard has already been sold to Besiktas this summer, while Christos Tzolis arrived for £34m from Club Brugge. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta missed out on top target Morgan Rogers, with Chelsea sealing a £117m deal.

Neighbours Tottenham are also firmly in the race, but must first clear out their squad before launching an official bid. Spurs need to resolve the futures of returning loanees Manor Solomon and Mikey Moore, who are both drawing Premier League and Serie A interest.

Roberto De Zerbi's side have been active in the transfer window already this summer, with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes signing for £100m and £85m respectively. Defenders Jan Paul van Hecke for £52m, plus free agents Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, have also come through the door.

But there is space for a winger, with injured quartet Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert missing Spurs' pre-season tour to New Zealand and Australia.

The North London rivals face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan and Roma, who have already opened direct talks with Nusa's representatives. Milan have made Nusa a priority target and plan to fund the swoop by selling star man Rafael Leao for around £43m, while Roma are ready to test Leipzig's resolve with a £38m bid.

Nusa is understood to be open to a fresh challenge after a successful World Cup, which could significantly accelerate discussions in the coming weeks. But the biggest obstacle for all suitors remains negotiating down Leipzig's steep price tag during upcoming talks.
