7M - Saliba Sidelined for Months Following World Cup Injury

Arsenal defender William Saliba faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a back injury during France's World Cup semifinal match against Spain. Medical evaluations conducted in London confirmed that while the center-back does not require surgery, he must undergo a controlled rehabilitation program that will keep him out for several months.

The setback comes after an impressive World Cup campaign in which Saliba started six matches, kept four clean sheets, led France in aerial duels won, and ranked second behind Dayot Upamecano in clearances.

His prolonged absence forces manager Mikel Arteta to adjust his plans ahead of the new season. Arsenal is scheduled to face Manchester City in the Community Shield before opening their league campaign against Coventry City on August 21. In response, club management is exploring transfer options to strengthen the backline, with former Manchester City defender John Stones emerging as a primary target.
