Ferran Torres played through heartbreak before firing Spain to World Cup glory

Ferran Torres might be on cloud nine after firing Spain to glory in the World Cup final.

But the Barcelona winger's love life has been far from smooth after breaking up with his girlfriend just days before the showpiece against Argentina.

Torres is the name on everyone's lips in Spain after his strike sealed a 1-0 win over Lionel Messi and Co at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday night. He will go down in history after helping his country win the World Cup for only the second time.

The former Manchester City star had to play through heartbreak in North America after ending his relationship with influencer Martina Hunter during the tournament.

According to Spanish journalist Javi de Hoyos, via Bild, the couple split just before Spain's 2-1 win over Belgium in the quarter-finals on July 10. De Hoyos said: "I have spoken with people close to both of them, and they confirm that the romance is over, at least for now. Ferran is currently enjoying being single at the World Cup."

The report says Torres and Hunter were regularly seen together partying in Ibiza in recent times. But it now claims the pair have unfollowed each other on Instagram amid their bitter break-up.

Social media star Hunter has nearly 60,000 followers on Instagram and often posts glamorous pictures for her fans. She is currently enjoying a holiday in Bali in a bid to get over her heartbreak. Hunter, who also works as a fashion stylist, has never publicly disclosed any relationship with Torres.

Torres previously dated Sira Martinez, a professional showjumper and influencer who is the daughter of PSG boss Luis Enrique. The forward played under Enrique at Barcelona while he was in a relationship with Martinez and made a joke about their romance.

Speaking in 2022, Enrique claimed he would immediately substitute the player if he ever celebrated with a baby gesture. He said: "I would replace him in that moment, put him on the stands, and he wouldn't set foot on a football pitch again." The couple were said to have gone their separate ways in 2023.
