Where will the 2030 World Cup be held? Venue, stadiums, dates: SPOX provides essential information about the upcoming World Cup.

The 2026 World Cup is drawing to a close, with the final pitting Spain against defending champions Argentina. That means another four-year wait for the next edition—a gap that feels frustrating yet also preserves the tournament's allure: the World Cup remains special precisely because it is not held every summer.

Following Qatar's November–December 2022 staging, the 2026 edition is set to be co-hosted by three North American nations—the USA, Canada and Mexico. Where will the 2030 World Cup be held?

In 2030, the football world will focus on six countries for the World Cup. From 8 June to 21 July, matches will be hosted in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, then in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

However, a key detail is worth noting: only the opening three matches will be played in South America on 8 and 9 June. After a brief pause of a few days, the tournament proper will kick off across Europe and North Africa—the primary host regions—from 13 June onwards.

The opening matches in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay mark the World Cup's 100th anniversary: the first tournament was held in 1930, and the official anniversary game will be played on Uruguayan soil.

The bulk of the competition will be hosted by Spain. As things stand, 48 nations are set to take part, although FIFA is considering expanding the field to 64 teams; the governing body had only recently raised the limit from 32 to 38 for the 2026 World Cup. That means 104 matches will be played.

The group stage will comprise Groups A to L; the top two from each group plus the eight best third-placed teams will advance to the round of 32.

The candidate nations have already told FIFA which stadiums they intend to use for the 2030 World Cup. However, the host list is not yet finalised and remains open to change.

The host city and stadium for the final remain unresolved. Madrid is the front-runner, thanks to Real Madrid's refurbished Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, given that Spain will host the bulk of the tournament.

Other contenders include Barcelona's Camp Nou, which will rise to 105,000 seats after its makeover, and the 105,000-capacity Stade Hassan II in Marrakesh, Morocco, still under construction.
