England hopeful Rice will recover in time for Argentina semi-final
England will make a late decision on Declan Rice’s fitness ahead of Wednesday’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina.
The Arsenal star struggled with illness before Saturday’s quarter-final win over Norway and was replaced at half-time after spending three days in bed.
While Rice has not fully recovered, his condition has improved significantly in recent days.
According to the BBC, the 78-cap midfielder is expected to push to play in the huge semi-final, but England’s medical team will assess him before Thomas Tuchel makes a final call.
Rice has also been managing a long-term neural issue affecting his lower back and hamstring but has started almost every World Cup match so far.
