7M - Saka Declares Fitness Ahead of Norway Quarterfinal Showdown

Bukayo Saka has declared he is fully prepared and feeling excellent ahead of England's FIFA World Cup quarterfinal against Norway on Saturday. The 24-year-old winger has played in all five matches of the tournament but started only two as England's medical staff carefully managed his minutes due to an ongoing Achilles injury.

Despite playing just 192 minutes, the Arsenal forward has already provided three tournament assists. This tally matches his club teammate Martin Odegaard and former Gunner Dennis Bergkamp for the most assists by an Arsenal player at a single World Cup. Globally, only Michael Olise with five, and Bruno Guimaraes alongside Brahim Diaz with four, have recorded more assists in this edition.

Saka revealed he spoke briefly with Arsenal teammate and Norway captain Martin Odegaard, noting that both squads recognize the massive opportunity ahead. While England has historically dominated the fixture with seven wins from 12 meetings, they must overcome a poor tournament record against continental rivals, having been eliminated in their last three consecutive World Cup knockout matches against European opposition. Saka emphasized that the Three Lions have put the emotional drama of their previous win over Mexico behind them and remain entirely focused on the challenge presented by Norway.
