Chelsea have officially finalized the transfer of teenager Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP. The 19-year-old winger has committed to Stamford Bridge on an eight-year contract running through to June 2034, in a deal reported to be worth up to 40 million pounds. Although the two clubs reached an agreement in March of last year, Quenda spent the previous season in Lisbon before finally completing his move to London.
The Portuguese talent arrives with a stellar development record, having scored nine goals in 86 games for Sporting CP. He holds the record as the club's youngest-ever scorer at 17 years and 95 days old, and he became the youngest Portuguese player to score in the Champions League during a 4-0 victory against Kairat. Quenda, who won the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal double during the 2024-25 season, expressed his excitement about working under manager Xabi Alonso and his eagerness to help the club win trophies. In a related move, Chelsea youngster Jesse Derry has extended his contract until June 2032 and is set to spend the 2026-27 season on loan at Sporting CP.
