Jordan Henderson handed World Cup boost despite arm surgery
Jordan Henderson remains in contention to feature for England at the World Cup despite undergoing surgery on a fractured arm.
The Brentford midfielder suffered the injury in a freak accident after the Three Lions’ 3-2 win over Mexico, landing awkwardly while attempting to jump over advertising boards.
Henderson was taken from the pitch on a stretcher and received oxygen before later undergoing surgery in Kansas City, England’s tournament base.
Although he missed the last-16 victory at the Azteca Stadium, the midfielder has not been ruled out of future involvement, according to the BBC.
While a return would be a major challenge, England’s staff are exploring whether Henderson could remain part of matchday squads and potentially play while wearing protective support on his arm.
