England boost as Quansah returns, James still absent
Reece James remains a major doubt for England’s World Cup round-of-16 clash against Mexico after missing the team’s final training session on Saturday.
The Chelsea right-back has not featured since suffering a hamstring injury against Ghana and continues to follow an individual recovery programme away from the main squad.
However, the Three Lions received a timely boost with Jarrell Quansah returning to full training after recovering from his own hamstring problem.
The versatile defender is available for selection, easing Thomas Tuchel’s concerns at right-back.
Djed Spence started in England’s previous victory over DR Congo, while Declan Rice finished the match in the position.
Rice, despite carrying a minor hamstring issue, is also expected to be fit for Monday’s knockout clash at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium.
