Ajax agree loan deal for Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is on the verge of joining Ajax on a season-long loan after Barcelona reached a verbal agreement with the Dutch club.

According to AD, the Blaugarana will continue to pay most of the Germany international’s salary as they seek to ease their wage bill.

The 34-year-old has endured a difficult spell after injuries and has fallen behind Joan GarcDa and Wojciech Szczesny in Hansi Flick’s goalkeeping hierarchy.

Ter Stegen, whose contract runs until 2028, is hoping the move will revive his career and secure regular first-team football.

Financial considerations have also influenced Barcelona’s decision, with the club eager to reduce salary commitments.

After missing much of the past two seasons through injury, the experienced goalkeeper now looks set for a fresh start in Amsterdam ahead of the new campaign.
